Ottawa, ON, July 13, 2007 – Jennifer Sarumi, a third-year Bachelor of International Business student at the Sprott School of Business, is one of only 28 young Canadians selected to participate in the 2007 Junior Team Canada Trade Mission to Southeast Asia.

Coordinated by Global Vision, the Junior Team Canada program fosters leadership among Canada's youth. Over 800 applicants from across Canada applied to this year's program, which will see students travel to Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam from August 13 to 31. During her time abroad, Jennifer will act as an ambassador, meet with trade officials and industry leaders, research business opprtunities, and develop contacts for the Ottawa biotech, information technology and education sectors.

“Ottawa is a hub for IT and biotech. These sectors are important areas with so much opportunity for growth,” said Jennifer. “I'm looking forward to exploring new opportunities in these sectors.”

“Jennifer is a perfect choice for the Junior Team Canada Trade Mission,” said David Cray, Associate Professor and Supervisor of the BIB program. “The business fundamentals taught at Sprott combined with the greater cultural awareness and context students learn in the BIB program will give her a very solid foundation upon which she can build a successful international career.”
